Corporate Responsibilty
Centre Management recognize that as individuals and as an entity, that corporate responsibility is integral to the success of The Heart complex, and an essential ingredient in maintaining a respected, trusted brand. The belief is central to our approach – doing good business depends on it.
The Heart is committed to reducing its corporate impact on the environment and to raising the awareness of partners to help achieve this. We have reduced landfill and food-waste by over 50% in the last two years and seek to achieve as low a level as is reasonably practicable. These include reducing print and paper waste, sourcing of recycled or sustainable paper products, traders delivery materials, recycling glass and cardboard, power down of idle desktop and maintenance equipment, and reducing redundant IT equipment.
We are adopting innovative methods to deliver research information, marketing materials, web-based collaborative forums (such as e-newsletters, twitter and facebook) and marketing brochures, therefore reducing paper, transport costs and waste.
The Heart has consolidated its electricity purchase with a single supplier, and put in place strict environmental criteria for choosing all suppliers and contractors that it works with and employs.
Our offices and our staff are actively involved in the local community, and have adopted the Princess Alice Hospice based in Esher as its 2011official charity.
