Would you like to spend a little more time focusing on the good things you already have in your life, and a little less time thinking about what’s missing from it? A great way to achieve this is through gratitude journaling. What is this, you ask? To put it simply, a gratitude journal is a tool used to keep a track of what you’re grateful for.
Performing small acts of gratitude each day can have a really positive impact on your mental health. Taking the time to reflect and document the things you appreciate in your journal is an easy and effective form of self-care. You’ll soon realise that there’s always something you can be grateful for!
To help you get started, we’ve put together a quick guide to three different styles of gratitude journal spreads. Enjoy!
This simple spread concept is great if you’re a beginner. Drawing a ray of sunshine like this leaves gaps for you to fill in with the things you’re grateful for. Plus, just looking at it will put a smile on your face and remind you of the bright side of life. You can set daily, weekly or even monthly gratitude targets for yourself.
By keeping a monthly spread in your journal, you can reflect on the month you’ve just had. Sometimes it feels like time has passed you by, but this is a great way to remind yourself that you’re always achieving and enjoying things, even if they’re small. It’s a lovely keepsake too – in the future, you can look back on the spreads and see what you were up to at that time in your life.
This spread is definitely the most creative! Give yourself the freedom to reflect, draw your feelings and experiences, and bring them to life through colour. Doodle spreads are ideal if you’re looking for a fun and therapeutic way to practise gratitude.
