Walton-on-Thames’ flagship vaccination centre, which was located on Nettlefold Walk within The Heart Shopping Centre closed back in March but not without delivering staggering 93,000 vaccinations.
Opening as part of the Government’s national vaccination rollout in 2021, to help battle the Coronavirus pandemic, the Walton-on-Thames vaccination centre was one of the busiest centres in Surrey, administering the first dose, a second dose and booster vaccinations to the community of Walton-on-Thames.
Located on Nettlefold Walk, opposite Next, the Vaccination Centre was staffed by local volunteers looking to support the Government’s pledge to offer vaccines to everyone over the age of twelve years.
A spokesperson for The Heart Shopping Centre comments; “Ever since the Vaccination Centre opened its doors in early 2021 it was constantly recognised by visitors as a highly efficient, professional and hassle-free operation. The team administering the vaccines offered an understanding ear and moral support, especially to those with needle phobias. The Heart is incredibly proud to have been able to support the Vaccination Centre with a suitable location that helped them achieve such incredible results.”
The Walton-on-Thames Vaccination Centre closed on the 23rd of March. Residents of Walton-on-Thames do however still have access to vaccinations via their local GP and selected pharmacies.
