The Heart Shopping Centre in Walton-on-Thames is delighted to announce that over £700 was raised at their recent Walton Charity Day.
The event was initially planned for Sunday, 11th September. Still, due to the sad passing of Her Majesty, The Queen was moved to Sunday, 25th September. She included various activities to encourage the local community to have a family day out while raising money for two fantastic causes.
Between 11 am and 4 pm, the event included face painting, balloon modelling, spin the wheel, glitter tattoos and a raffle.
The total raised on the day was £702.90, and the proceeds will be evenly split between Great Ormond Street Children’s Charity and Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity.
Mark Middleton, Centre Manager at The Heart, commented: “We are pleased with the amount raised at this year’s One Great Day event. Although it’s a lower amount than in previous years, we do appreciate that the cost of living significantly impacts the Walton-on-Thames community. Therefore, we thank everyone who donated what they could to these two charities. For the first time, we were also delighted to have the support of Walton BID, who kindly donated the Face Painting towards the event.”
The Heart’s Walton Charity Day is an annual event that forms part of the One Great Day initiative, backed by the Centre’s Managing Agents Savills. Each year, the Centre nominates a charity of the year, awarded 50% of the funds raised as part of the event, alongside Great Ormond Street.
