This February Half Term, the Walton-on-Thames community is invited to take part in some action-packed activities at The Heart Shopping Centre, all free of charge.
With several national days and events taking place during the half-term period - 12th-16th February - The Heart has decided to theme their activities around Chinese New Year which will see 2024 be named the Year of the Wooden Dragon.
On Friday, 16th February, between 10 am and 3 pm, The Heart Shopping Centre will be hosting a free Crafty Dragons Workshop. The workshop, which will take place within the covered mall outside Sports Direct and Vision Express, will encourage families to get into the Spirit of Chinese New Year by creating their very own dragon craft. Visitors will be able to select either a draft plate puppet or a dragon mask that they will be able to make their own and take home.
In addition to this workshop, which is most suitable for children aged three and over, visitors will also have the opportunity to interact with two stilt-walking dragons who will be making an appearance throughout the day.
That’s not all! Between the 1st and 18th of February, visitors to the Centre will be able to take part in a Chinese New Year Trail, where children will be able to learn about all of the animals within the Chinese calendar by finding them within the stores. Entries will be online, and all visitors have to do is scan the QR code on the competition poster to take part. The winner will receive a £100 voucher for any store within the Centre.
Mark Middleton, Centre Manager at The Heart Shopping Centre, had this to say; ‘Our Kids’ Club events are always a great success, and we see no reason why our Crafty Dragons Workshop will be any different. Half Term is a chance for local families to visit the Centre, whether they are topping up on school essentials or visiting new openings such as Rock Up Adventure, our free events are just another reason to visit and enjoy the Centre.’
Visitors will have the chance to interact with stilt-walking dragons this half-term.
Although the Crafty Dragons Workshop is free of charge, we do recommend prebooking your 30-minute slot to guarantee your space. As always, we will be dedicating the first 30-minute slot to children with special educational needs.
